I'm curious, from the street/strip crowd, what kind of ET's are you running?

My 79 C10 Stepside with a 400, Th350, and 3.08 gear's running General Grabber AT2's, (I bought it just like that last fall lol, I know I have a way to go), ran a 15.3@86mph last fall the one weekend I was able to get it out to the track.

Hmm... I don't have any actual times, but mine run anywhere from "kinda sorta fast" to "lollygagging turd". Seriously though, I'd also like to see who else has some times to post.

Mine's a total poser lol, sounds awesome, squeal's tire's, run's as slow as a new Caravan lol. I'd like to know what a leaf sprung, street strip truck can run.

With the crate 350, stock quadrajet and quadrajet manifold (both original to the truck), dual exhaust with stock exhaust manifolds, th-350C, 2.56 rear gear and off brand tires:

16.8

With the LG3 305 (out of a 78 malibu) , rochester 2g carb and 2BBL manifold, dual exhaust with stock exhaust manifolds, Th-350C, 2.56 rear gear and same crappy tires:

17.9

i am planning on testing the "new" 4.3 asap. Not expecting anything stellar.

Now let me say i didn't buy the truck for racing. i just was curious what it would turn with the different engine combos.

Also, i might add in both cases the right rear wheel spun a little.

That's awesome! Having thing's documented helps tremendously.

That's interesting info, and the numbers are a little better than I would have suspected. My C10 has 2.56 gears too, the 305 hated them and the 454 doesn't really care for them either. But they sure are nice for highway cruising with no overdrive (although not sure if it helps economy, just noise).

Also, I think your 4.3 might get similar times to your 305. What year is the 4.3?

It's an 86 and i think it really needs to be rebuilt. It should probably produce an ET close to the 305 and i'm not expecting anything fantastic. That 305 produces i think 10 lbs more torque AND at about 400 lower rpm. The 4.3 might have a little bit more HP on the top end (155 vs. 140) and it weighs i think 125lbs lighter than the 305.

i'm just stock 2WD. i do have the "heavy duty" springs though. Not exactly sure what the logic was behind that being that i have 2.56 diff gear? The truck can support the weight, it just can't move it!

So i guess the next step would be traction bars. i would not race a truck, but if i did race with a leaf spring car i would install ladder bars, first using housing floaters and keeping the stock springs. Then installing coil overs. Then eventually maybe tubbing out.

Yes, i have ordered a set of Caltrac's. I'm not looking to "race" the truck per se, but I have this 2wd steside that sounds awesome, and squeels the tires, it should be able to run a good time so I don't get embarassed by Honda's and the like lol.
