It’s $3.59 for regular and $5.39 for ethanol free premium here. I only run ethanol free in my generators, lawn equipment, and my Buick. The Buick is a 1970 11:1 compression 455, so it gets the good stuff. It isn’t fixed enough to go through a full tank of gas in a year, so it gets the ethanol free. Once it is all fixed up and driven fairly regularly I’ll probably switch to 10% 93 octane.

According to pure-gas.org, Cali only has like 17 no E gas stations in the whole state.
That sucks.
Have you tried getting AV gas? Local/small airstrips, maybe you can get the good stuff for when you need it.
Around here when gas prices were at their highest, AV gas was within about 50cents of no E premium.

I'm not sure why, but that isn't really accurate. There are actually quite a few stations that have the E-free gas down there, one of them is right down the street from my parents place and they get it regularly for their generator and power equipment as well. The hassle of getting AVgas for me here is just not worth it. I work on the Salem airport and have access to the GA side too because I'm a member of the flying club here, but it is several dollars more a gallon than what I normally run and about $0.50/gallon more than the E-free. If I ever get the buick to the point I am driving it regularly, I'll probably think about running the AVgas in it. They are the original unmodified 1970 455 heads on it and the 10.5:1-11:1 compression would probably really like it.

Ya I only use 100LL sparingly where needed.
My 450 bike gets it for obvious reasons. Otherwise generally only use it for stuff I expect extended durations of inactivity

I've used 100LL in the past. It's too expensive nowadays. When I used it I was an airport manager so I had access to the FastPay and I would make up a tail number to pump some in my trucks. The "tail number" was unique to each truck. I'd do a 25% 100LL to 75% 92. The trucks ran great. Back then the 100LL $1.07-$1.00/gallon, so that tells you how long it's been. Since I had to test the fuel, I'd keep a couple of mason jars to pour the test fuel in and that would run in my lawnmower. When we had to do maintenance around the airport we'd run the test fuel in the weed whacker and lawnmower for More Power!

WOW! Curiosity got the better of me...Just checked the 100LL prices, and if they are current on the website I found, the 100LL is actually cheaper than premium pump gas.

I've given out my location in various other threads, it is irrelevant now. At least to me.

Pcv or not to pcv?

I've just got 2 breathers on my valve covers on the BBC. Should I put a pcv Value on driver's side valve cover? Is there an advantage to running one? I have a brand new one on the 305 that I could pop right in. Just wondering.

Run it. It'll be fine. Premium, e-free, doesn't matter, it'll be fine. Sometimes the simple answer is not simple here. You'll get a lot of information, though.

Regular pump gas is fine in most newer vehicles. Small engine stuff seems in my experience to benefit from premium fuel. None of it stores well in my experience, even with stabilizer.

Ethanol will work fine but not if stored for long periods. Current pump ethanol starts to degrade in 30 days. Non ethanol will last longer but not like the old days. Either way if stored use Stabil. Only other issue is the possibility the ECM not being able to adjust for ethanol. There is approximately a 20% capability for fuel trim adjustment. If the vehicle is already on the lean side it may not be able to adjust for the fuel. May cause a drivability issue. Just try it and see.

As for it making a difference in millage doubt you will notice any. I did an experiment with a 2017 Altima [30 mpg city] using 10% ethanol and non-ethanol. Millage change was negligible. Here the cost difference is about 75 cents a gallon. Did not make economic sense.

Also, keep in mind that ethanol draws water out of the air. Not much of an issue for a daily driven truck in which you routinely run your tanks dry, but if you only have a single tank, or drive it infrequently, it definitely is an issue.
