I'd be expecting good results. I have heard the Equal beads work well when they're working but in the winter time, they have tendancy to sweat inside the tire, then clump together and don't work as well. So long as they come back apart in spring weather I'd be able to live with that. If the weather is that cold, it might be you have snow or ice on the ground and shouldn't be driving near as fast anyway.

Do keep us updated PawPaw !!!!

Arrived in the mail yesterday, will be installing this weekend. Comes in a vacuum sealed pouch with instructions and a funnel. Not bad for 10 bucks shipped. There is enough here for all 4 of the 31 x 10.5 R15 tires.

So did these work? My 36's are horribly out of balance and looks like these might be the trick. I'd love to be able to run them again.

Not as good as I thought they would. Take my advice and buy the bubble balancer and some stick on weights from Harbor Freight. Best thing to do is get them spin balanced for balance on both axis of the tire/rim.

A good tire shop should be able to get them balanced right. Some tires do take a lot of weight but from my experience you can move the tire around the rim to balance out the highs and lows of each and achieve a decent balance. It's a pain because you need to break and re-seat the bead a few times but it's worth it in my opinion. Find a shop that is willing to work with you rather than spin the tire, slap on 8oz of weight and call it good. There is more to it than that.

Yea I've read that sometimes you need to spin it in the rim. But I've also heard some shops say that 35's and bigger will break their machine. So some shops are just to lazy to deal with big tires at all. Finding one that does can be a pain.

i think this is called "match mounting?"

i think there is a machine that specifically determines the optimal positioning for the rim and tire in addition to balancing?

Anyone have any more updates on balance beads? I've just ordered another set of wheels and now would be a good time for me to have them throw beads into the tires if I'm to do this.

The 315's I have now are 73 lbs each. Amazon has Counteract beads (8oz) for $52. Looks like Dynabeads are $81.56 (+$10 for shipping) and they don't need to use special valve stem cores.

I use dynamic balancing on my supermoto and dual sports. They have a tire bead lock that is really hard to balance out at freeway speed. The beads feel really smooth compared to static balancing with stick on weights. Not to mention putting weights on 17x5.5 black excel rims is a sin.

I use air soft pellets and they work great. I’ve even had buddies with 44” tsl swampers that have upsized the concept with golf balls. They claim it works well.

I would love to see the science on this... and I don't mean Bill Nye style science. I believe those who say they work, but I can't get my head around how they work. Tire guys tell me most of the issue (out of balance) comes from the rim and not the tire. I got 5 35" BFG mounted on cheap Ion 16"wheels and only one in 5 of the tires needed any balance added.
Can I use a handful of gravel?
