hey all

I sent my cab and bed out last night to have them soda blasted
when they get done I'm going to shoot them with epoxy primer
but I have a couple questions
there is some bodywork that needs to be done on both cab and bed that I'm not going to be able to get done
within the window of time that they recommend you do
the bodywork in and re coat
so my question is, if I go past that time can I still do bodywork on top of the epoxy primer
do I have to scuff it up and also there's a few spots that
I am sure I'm going to have to to do some patchwork so around those spots where I have to welding
do I scuff the surface around them and re shoot primer over the whole thing

also I have to do a little work on the hood where I have to take it down to bare metal can
I just use self etching primer on bare spots and do body work on top of that primer or do I need to do body filler if needed
on the bare metal and then prime over that

I hope this isn't all too confusing
Thanks much

I'm no expert but if there are areas you have to work on you just take it to bare metal and feather your edges out fix it then re prime your spots, if you feather the edges you can build up the primer in that area and then knock it back down when you block sand for paint. Any experts can chime in if I'm totally wrong! Lol

It will need to be scuffed. Epoxy primer is very hard once fully cured and hard to work with. That is usually the main reason on working within a certain time frame. It also works as a sealer, unlike regular grey primer that will let moister through. I have a car still in epoxy primer after 6 years slowly working on it.
