I'll defer to Jim on this, but I believe over cooling will delay or prevent the ecm from going into closed loop.

over cooling and a higher constant charging system load are the 2 things I can think of.

Id like to try and get those windstar fans here within the next two weeks...therfore I drawn a "temporary" wiring diagram untill I have time/$$ to do a better job.
Its pretty basic, each fan on its own relay and switch, hopefully using the on-off-on Burb' switch I just put in.
Question is: can this we wired to have main fan on 1 pole and "both" on the second pole of the same switch...with center position off?

Why not just wire them up to come on when they are needed? Pretty sure on a vehicle that has them stock, a temp probe goes in the radiator and when it gets up to a certain temp it kicks on the first fan. When it gets up to another set temp the second fan kicks on. Then when it cools to certain temp they turn off.
I can't tell you how to wire it, but I know it can be done. Separately from the vehicle computer at that.

Def plan to wire them to thermal switches, just want to get them on now.
So many choices for temp switches and install locations I want to read up on it some more. People using BMW switches w/Volvo relays, manual cut offs ect ect.
Finalizing a new diagram now, using that Burban' switch I just put in. I will have 15" fan on Left side, Center off, Right both fans on....also will have both fans on AC positive to come on automatically w/AC.

Just wire them both to one temp switch, in az your probably going to need both and it follows the kiss theory. (keep it simple stupid)

IM using one of the aftermarket adjustable temp switches on my S-10 with the temp probe pressed into the fins of the rad and its never let me down. No switches to worry about and by using a tem gun i can adjust the temp at when it comes on.
