I’m smoothing firewall on 85 Chevy k10. Question is on drivers side the bottom part has a lip that runs from center to middle of the drivers side panel. Has anyone removed that bottom lip on drivers side that is bumper out and just straighten across the lip down but not bumped out? The passenger side just has the lip on bottom for spot welds on it but doesn’t bump out, just runs straight across. Not sure if that bump out on bottom for a reason.

Maybe it's like that to help out the assembly line in production? Like some sort of reference point to clamshell the floor into the cab... or structural support for the pedal assembly.

I've not paid that part of the truck much attention yet.
