Door window glass alignment

Two holes that can be mixed up. That what happens to me. I used the hole to the left, which positioned the glass guide away from the glass and therefore didn't hold the glass in the slot. Now with the bolt in the right hole, everything works perfect. Thanks a lot again. You made my day!

Since this one is active. I’ll add if no one minds. I did the power glass swap. I didn’t install the sweeps yet. (Fedex failed me yesterday) but when I try to run the glass up the tracks without the rubber channels the glass is crooked. regulator not in right?
this happened with both sides. makes me think I put something in at the wrong time. Maybe that little roller that goes in the track on the door

The glass is thinner on 81+ I believe.

The year they first went to power windows they had thinner glass. 78 I think.

Looks like the back track is dragging the glass.

I got it. I guess the door track (horizontal roller one) popped out on both sides
( driver/passenger) That’s what happens when you work in the dark after hours. lol. With a few beers to boot.

old post but it made me think.....are the windows from say a 79, are exactly the same as 81+ except for the glass thickness? I ask because my windows are slow even with the lmc relay kit. Hauls arse direct to battery but thought I'd ask. If someone had thicker glass in newer tracks (if they are different....dont know) this may explain why they are slow.

Thinking outside the box and thought I'd add.

My '77 glass runs up and down just fine in my '78 using '84 regulators. It does loose a little speed going through the relays compared to straight to the battery, but not much. It shouldn't be considerably slower. I used some cheap relays I got off Amazon and #8 AWG automotive wire off the engine bay aux terminal to power the relays. Runs just as fast as my '94 C3500. Does your glass run up and down fast in the channels wired straight to the battery?

They do. I ran 14 AWG wire for power.

Don't wanna hi-jack the thread so I'll keep digging. It's gonna be switch, relays, or wiring.

All the replacement glass run kits are 73-80 and 81+. So the glass changed in 81 an not before (imo, I've never measured them) the only real difference is the runs an thicker to make up for the thinner glass. So if you had 81+ runs an a 80 an older glass it would probably be really tight.

I put new runs in mine an they are still hard to roll up (manual windows) even a few years later. It's possible all the aftermarket stuff is slightly tighter on the tolerance than OE stuff was 40+ yrs ago.
