Does anyone have a special tool or trick to replace the spring that hold the door open without taking the door off or removing the hinge? googled it but only one video on it and he removed the hinge.

Thanks
Hector

Ohhhh... i didn't realize that was the spring pictured above. I've never encountered that type. My apologies :(

I was just thinking of the typical coiled spring.

Hello neighbor.
Hey my friend! :) bunkering down for more of that white stuff. o_O

Yeah, taking the entire hinge out has been the general concensus for this type.. In fact on the bench, in a vice. I recently found a few YT videos on it. Doesn't look too bad, hardest part is banging the new one in place. No special tools required. Maybe another pair of hands since the doors are heavy.

No... just the hinge. I didn't say remove the door.

I just know the door becomes unstable after the hinge is removed. It's nice to have a 2nd pair of hands or a hydraulic jack with towel on top to keep the door steady.
