Door has a loud metallic pop when closed

This just started recently. When I open the passenger side door all the way and start to close it, there is a loud metallic pop. It does not happen on the drivers side. Is there anything that I could check into to stop the issue? It is a 73 K20.

Is it catching on the front fender due to alignment?

It shouldn’t be. The truck is really straight with no frame or body damage. Hasn’t moved more than a few hundred feet for over 5 years, and it just started recently.

Does it sound like a spring or like metal contacting? My driver side door while driving down the road makes this load metal spring popping sound that scares everyone but me, and I think it is a spring in the door that needs grease or something

Could be a spring like you were saying. I was thinking it could be something binding in the system that holds the door open.

it could be this... Mine is broken. its the detent..it holds the door 0 there are wheels that roll over it. - It's a spring. is it binding??
