What a nightmare! In Colorado it is a PITA. My car was a BMW 2002 Tii that was partially restored and my customer brought it to me to finish, then he stopped paying. Turns out, he didn't own it and had no paperwork (He had vanished by then) I had to put ads in the paper to find last owner, who I could never track down, Then I had to take ownership through all sorts of "rig a marole" Finally got ownership after about a year of effort. Finished the car and sold it..
This is exactly the case in Arizona and what I had to go throughSome states are more complex than others, as long as the VIN doesn't show up on a stolen list, you should be able to claim ownership eventually. In some states there is a "protest period." During this time other people can challenge you in court and try to claim ownership as well. If no one disputes your claim of ownership, or you win your court case against someone who does, you will be given a title.
What year is the vehicle what state are you in,and why do you think you need to get a bonded title. I have jumped lots of title hurdles that's why all the questions.I may have to get one because of reasons.
