I know some guys on the OBS/400 forum in Arizona and out that way, that always go. It's a great show I'm sure, but a bit of a hike for me.~ 1200 miles one way, to Phoenix from Houston, and half of that is between Austin and El Paso....Mannn, I wish. Been the last 2 years, AMD took some other people this year and I chose to use the money elsewhere. Gonna start saving up to do it in '26 for fun
It's a helluva show. I would imagine you'd do pretty well there, there's LOTS of money flowing at that one. Guys are buying things left and right, merch and diecast probably are right there at the top if I had to guessI know some guys on the OBS/400 forum in Arizona and out that way, that always go. Me and the GF ran exactly 2 miles of Rt 66 in Texas. It was too rough, was beating our kidneys out and rattling the truck to death. I want to run the whole thing someday but it'll have to be in something else, my blue truck wouldn't survive it lolPlanning on going next year in 2025.
Wanna run parts of old Route 66 going and see old history of the Mother Road.
It's a 3,000 or so mile round trip from here.
Trying to get more local truck guys to commit.........
Really? I know it's not maintained in a lot of areas.Me and the GF ran exactly 2 miles of Rt 66 in Texas. It was too rough, was beating our kidneys out and rattling the truck to death. I can't remember now if it was between Glenrio and Amarillo or between Amarillo and Shamrock, but it was somewhere along that stretch. I was really bummed, I'd hoped to be able to run a good bit of it too. Might give it another try in other areas next time we go to Dino's. Maybe being on adjustable coilovers by then, I can just soften them up all the way and it'll be tolerable lolReally? I know it's not maintained in a lot of areas.
I have been on parts of it in 4 of the 8 states.
I know sometimes it will just end and you have to go back to an exit for I-40.
I think a good bit in New Mexico is OK from looking at Google maps.
Not gonna do the entire thing, would take forever to get to Glendale.
Still will be interesting and fun, if it isn't a brain beater as you say.
