3208 Cat motors are tricky Sob’s got to have all the right tools to work on those I still have quite a few of those specialty tools when I worked on those as well as the 8.2’s

Every manufacturer has a plan to sell special tools.

My biggest problem with CAT is their prices. They've been turning cast iron into gold by painting it yellow since 1924.

However, beyond that their support is quite good, parts availability and technical info is very available and so far my 3208s have been very good to me. Are they great engines? I'd consider them to be very good engines, but they do have their limitations.

Can’t do anything but agree with you on the price aspect, but when I hit a snag I was always able to talk to someone and 9 outa 10 times it usually worked and they are really a good medium to heavy duty motors a buddy of mine has two of on his boat and he swears by em, I always tell him you’re stuck with it what else you gonna do but fix em
