I've actually done something similar. You can get inexpensive electric sheet metal sheers at harbor freight. They work pretty good. Should work well over a gas tank with no sparks. Just drill a hole first.

well the redneck hood was also on my mind so i did the same

30 min it was cut and welded back ... hood it under the tarp now .. just never finished it.. put one layer of fiber glass but will be doing a 2nd for strength

Gotta respect a guy that can fabricate stuff like that. It is a skill that is diminishing in this day and age. I wish I had the skill and tools to do stuff like that.

now i want to make my boss do this to my hood.. he's a body guy by trade but we do more crushing then fixing lol gotta make the money to fund the toys.... that's gonna be my next project i think
