So long story short, i tore apart my 1979 k10 dana 44 front axle that was stock as far as i knew. ordered ball joints U joints and bearings. i got my ball joints in, U joints in but ran into an issue with the spindles. My driver and passenger spindles where noticeably different. the new bearings i ordered fit onto the driver side, but where way to big for the passenger. I am very lost, i've never heard of this. Is this factory or somebody's modification? the design of the spindles are also different but both mate with the knuckle on either side.
please help
thanks devin

The spindles were redesigned for '77 and the bearings changed along with it. That was on the D44. The second design spindles and bearings were used on the 10bolt as well.

Basically, your truck has had parts swapped around in the past.
