Cruise control components and troubleshooting

My 86 K10 Silverado has/had cruise control, however it does not currently work. I drive between Portland and Tacoma every week and would like to envoy the benefits of cruise control. First, I should know what I'm looking at and verify that all of the parts are there before trying to troubleshoot it. Any links to some good resources that include pictures and locations of components for the cruiser control system?
