Converting K5 Blazer A/C to R-12

I had the r4 style compressor work more than well enough for a regular cab, but in my suburban it was either going bad or was not enough.

You have to buy a new dryer.
The stuff inside there absorbs and upon switching, your new will instantly contaminate.
Lots of flushing.

I am toying with the idea of "unconverting " - but my local mechanics said they had not seen R12 in a while.

Have to find somewhere that does have it and see how many bitcoins a pound they want ...

I'd call a hot rod a/c shop like www.classicautoair.com or www.oldairproducts.com. Both are in TX. I had a sanden type compressor on a 68 Mustang when I lived in Ft Worth. At 105 F o/s temp I couldn't run the a/c on hi for long - got too cold. Maybe they can steer you to something cheaper and easier in the long run than r12.

Even driving down the highway it is not cold but is cool. The only thing I havnt replaced is evaporator and blower
