Chrome windshield trim, would it be on this truck or did the previous owner cheap out?

87 silverado, seems like it has the nicer exterior trim. It does not have power locks/windows.

Is there an RPO for this I would check?

I want to get the truck 100% original on nicknack stuff like this.

I believe it was an option but not all Silverados had it. My 87 Suburban is a Silverado, It had the black gasket too. I just replaced the original windshield and gasket in February after my wife accidentally obliterated it last year, they gave me the option for the chrome which was only like $20 bucks more (maybe less I don't remember) but I stuck with the black. That is the new style of gasket you have there though (that's what they put on mine as well). The original gasket had a strip in the middle like the quarter windows do, on the new ones it's all the way up against the glass like shown in your photo.

I agree, it’s a stand alone option, I think we’re just used to always seeing certain things on a Silverado.

My 91 Blazer, which was a LOADED Silverado, had black windshield trim.

I could be wrong, but I think the chrome trim in the mouldings was gone starting in '87.

Yes I think the 87 stopped using the chrome locking strip. My 87 r10 Silverado is loaded all the power options, 350 engine and 700r4 trans. It has a black locking strip on the windshield.

My 82 k5 Silverado is also loaded and has all the power options. It has the chrome locking strip on the windshield and on the rear side windows.

Interesting to know this. I think my ‘87’s got all the options minus the Delco 2700 ETR (non-ETR in mine) but just the ole black windshield rubber.

My r10 also has the Delco digital tape player.

No, I'm saying mine's got ole big buttons in it, which I'm okay with that because it's got the tape deck. I haven't seen any 87's with that radio personally, but I've seen plenty of 88's with them. Your build sheet must have been loaded to the max.

Mine has the digital radio/tape player.

I am going to get it restored and just run a bluetooth tape in it.

Funny because it has crank windows and no power locks.

I'm gonna chime in here. My truck has the chrome locking strip on windshield and rear window.

I have an AM/FM 8 Track stereo that works! Gotta love the 70's!...LOL

My 78 had the chrome option, which included the shifters, windshield, back window, and grille. IIRC it was part of the Cheyenne package.

Yes it is. It also had the bed rails. They are stored in my attic now.
