Cheap fuel tank switch mod.

My fuel tank switch is in working. It is faded out. I used a chisel tip marker to make it black again. Then used a fine point brush to highlight the lettering. A couple coats clear with the same small brush. It's not perfect but greatly improved. I'll probably replace it when I replace both tank sending units later this summer.

Mine is a bit weather-beaten, but so is my truck! I did take it apart because it was not functioning. I cut through the plastic welds holding the switch together, cleaned the gunk out, reassembled it with a dab of silicone grease. It now functions perfectly. Don't be afraid to take your switch apart to service it if it is not functioning properly. Very few parts and self explanatory as to how it works. The most difficult part was removing the spring metal clip that holds it to the dash.
