Feenin to buy a complete LTI+transmission donor vehicle.

So I started lookin casually - knowin the spring is comin quick!

If the ideal car is <$1000 to buy just so I can take it apart in my leisure ...my first venture into the mighty CL yields TWO perfect examples for eight or seven hundred dollars. Promising?

Hmm. Maybe $500 is a better goal. I'll keep lookin.
The $800 one is OBVIOUSLY no good. It's got that ******* intake on it that screams "piece of ****!"

The ad SAYS 5.7L but that home plate air silencer signals a 265 or 4.3L V8. $800 is too much for that crankshaft...

This $700 example has no underhood picture which I can't decide is a good OR bad sign...
The ubër ghetto 5% tint is definately not a positive signal however..

The LT1 cars got the big home plate too.

It's funny, I never realized it was the shape of a home plate. Baseball, apple pies and Chevrolet!

I thought the LT1 cars looked like ...LT1s.
There is something to that.
Hrm. I aim to find out!

I have also in my recent studies regarding LT1s was surprised to find there were LT1 engines factory-equipped with IRON heads.

I consider that an interesting side note..

The big cars did not get the aluminum heads like the F bodies and Corvette. One of the reasons they were rated at 260 HP.

All the B-bodies got the big air silencer whether they were LT1 or.... L99 was it?

Many Impala SS owners have removed the silencer, so it's very common to see cars without them.

actually they had the 260hp because they use the same tiny cam as the vortec truck engines... the iron heads actually flow better because they were in R&D longer than the alum. that went into production in 92 , they blue print for the 96+ vortec heads.

I had recalled that about the flow rates too, but I couldn't recall where I had heard that, or if it was accurate.

L99 is that "baby LT1" BUT GM later made an entirely DIFFERENT engine and called it am L99.
Why t.f. they couldn't use a different number noggles the mind.
My first thought is "hey! Why don't we pick a DIFFERENT F-N NUMBER?" besides one we already used?
