I got a 148gtl in mine...I'll get ya a pic once I put it back into the truck. I've been playing in the garage and using it as a base lately....

I dont hve a base setup anymore...every Trucker that came through fora long time would only be worried about talking stupid ****. The ones from out of state were really interested in Gay folks...seems to be their favorite subject. Funny that they love soo much to talk about someones sexual preference, since they were not sure whether or not their momma was really their second cousin or not. Used to tell them that their eyes were a little too close together to be talking **** about other people.

I don"t have a pic, but i have a cobra 29lx mounted to the bottom of the dash under the stereo & a wilson 1000 magmount on the roof.

What do you guys recommend for a decent starter unit...something used off CL or reasonably priced new?

The best starter is a Cobra 29LTD or Uniden PC76XL(without soundtracker), get an external speaker and replace the mic with a RK56 or an Astatic636L.

Its got Dynamic Sound Control(DSC, same as sound tracker) junk, but if all that stuff is $30 its worth it for the coax and weather radio.

For my external speaker i put a decent 4x10 in the stock location and use that.

Depending on how you mount the radio, you can cover the speaker.

Cobra 29 NW LTD..... just adds backlight?
