To all members that are interested in purchasing an item in the 'Wanted' section:

Please do not respond to personal messages from other members in which they want you to contact them via email about the sale of a part. If they ask you to do so, there is a good chance it is a scam. (Unless of course, it is someone that you already know and trust)

All transactions can be completed just using the PM function, any pictures that are needed can be posted in the original thread in the 'Wanted' section.

As always, please be cautious. If something seems a little shady, there's a good chance that it actually is shady.

And even if it's a member you know and trust, be careful. I encountered that, the member's account got hacked and I blindly completed a transaction thinking it was him. I later discovered I had been duped. I printed out the various posts of the thread, and took those to my credit union to start a claim. Paypal wouldn't touch it because I paid using the "Family/Friends" option. Don't pay that way unless you are certain it is the actual member. Anyhow, after a few months I got a letter from the credit union and they concluded that my claim was indeed legit, and I did get my money back. Since then I now have that member's contact info and we keep in touch, he is a genuinely cool guy.

Also be wary of PMs from people that are not known members. When I posted up looking for an '83/84 GMC grille a little while ago, I got 3-4 PMs from people that had either 0 posts or less than 10. I just ignored those.

If you are PM’d by a member asking you to email someone, take a look at their previous posts. Seems scammers like to join and do little else but say “Welcome” to new members. They also have super rare trucks like C300s. lol

I always tell people the only way I'll pay is PayPal goods an services. I cover the extra 3% for the fee thats charged. If they can't accept it that way then I'm not a buyer. I will eat the fee to cover my @ss just in case.

To share my story-

I recently got a DM from some no name guy on the forum here responding to my ISO post for a fender for my truck. The guy says "email [email protected] for a fender" (cant remember who it was now)

I entertain it, not knowing who it is , i ask for pictures, this goober sends me some fender flares? I clarify, he sends back pictures of a 73-79 fender. Different color than what i needed AND it wasnt a 80+ fender. All he wanted was payment. Obviously a complete scam.

But just a little confirmation for what bucket's saying here. Seems to be a new method to rip people off.

It's rampant in the GMT400 (obs) groups on FB. I don't see it as much on the square stuff but it is out there. All I can figure is the typical square owner is older an doesn't fall for it as easily I guess.

It boggles me how so many obs guys fall for the obvious scam posts or tags to supposed parts pages an groups.

If you look at GMSB members you find thousands of new members with few or no posts. This seems to me to be a big security risk. They should be removed as members. There’s got to be a way to do that other than 1 at a time, as the moderators don’t have the time to do it that way.

Hi, my name is Joerg and I live in Germany. Sorry for my “German English”. I hope you will understand me. I bought a 1986 GMC Sierra Classic K1500 with 454 cui and th700r4 in Alabama and shipped the truck to Germany. My dream was a frame of restoration by my own. I am no car mechanic. Now the total metal work is done and the car came back from the paint shop.
I startet the rebuild but now I realize some open questions. Not enough pictures and striped was the car in 2016.

I have no detailed drawings of details. An example, last weekend I found a small metal part. It was sandblasted and painted but I have no idea where to go with.

Now my question, who is able to help me with some questions to help me to make sure at the end my GMC will drive with all parts?

Next I found is a wire with 7 cable (blue, yellow, pink, green, white and two black). It end under the dash. At the moment near the heater box. No idea what to do with.

At the moment I have no idea how to insert the two pictures from my notebook. First time in a forum. Start to learn.

Thanks for your time
