The first piece of car stereo I ever bought was a Spark-o-Matic BASS CANNON.

If you can't afford it, try some Kraco 6x9s!

Jensen was poorboy's Pioneer..maybe a JVC would be neat..those were the days! In my mind, Super Tuner Pioneer is exactly the correct vintage radio for a squarebody and yeah..you may pay $100 for a "good one" but is it Worth it? 100%!

but KRACO!

KRACO!!!

When I first bought my VW bug it had a kraco in radio and kraco speakers. Since everyone is pretty enthusiastic about the pioneer supertuner I think I will go with one of those. I see on eBay there are several different radios branded supertuner. Any specific model number better than the others? I would like one with 4 channel output.
Thanks
Hunter

They will all likely be four channel, differences in models as time progressed will be mostly limited to actual player functions, display upgrades, dolby NR, auto rewind or what-have-you. 16-25 or 50 watts a channel? After the mid 80s Most had dual pre-outs even... but the very venerable Super Tuner really made for great radio after it went digital, back in the day. It carried through a decade or so, 3, 4, orange light digital deck is what u want, theres not much difference between em really it's hard to go wrong. You'll need the knobs whatever you get.
I like to play my Van Halen casettes....../all.....

Always loved the Kraco speakers.....900w 6x9's that would distort at 5w.

My Dad had a Craig 8 track w/CB in his 78 wagoneer. Got my license in that because our other car was an Accord w/5spd and everyone knew the lesbian dwarf that gave the test would fail people all day long on when or how hard they shifted.

Then there was always the Realistic's at Radio Shack. Clarion made decks for about $100 too much.

That Sanyo sure is cool lookin. If only I had a wood grain dash to match it. :( I’d be okay spending about a $100 if it got me a good working radio. That’s about what I’d pay for any good modern radio with all the bells and whistles, that of course I would just end up leaving in FM because I don’t download music or pay for Spotify or anything like that. Lol.
Thanks
Hunter

Holy sht! $3500? When I bought a Luxman home system (Alpine's home brand), they tried to sell me a Nakamichi home receiver in 1989. Was $900 when everything else was $300. They all had gold plated circuitry (literally). Thing about them all was not only 3-5x as much, but stripped as far as bells/whistles. You could get a car deck for $500 and still not have Dolby C or separate bass and treble. When Lexus debuted in 1990, their premo system was a Nak.

I ran the same Alpine as Bigcountry78 did in my 68 El Camino. In my Squarebodies I used the Blaupunkt Denver.

What do you guys think about this one. Has preouts so I can run an amp. I’d offer him $100 and see if he bites. It has an orange display I googled pictures.

The only thing I don't like is where he says untested. Wtf wouldn't you test it. Make a me think he knows it doesn't work but, won't come out and tell you. Instead puts untested to try and cover his ass.

I have 2 Kenwood pre-amp eq's that I can't use. I got from eBay and they do work because I tested them. I'll take some pics when I get home. I payed $50 each if anyone is interested. They would be awesome for a old school tape player. Just obsolete for the decks I have now.
