vinyl floor and cloth seat is what i prefer since vinyl seats and hot summer days suck specially having a non ac model.

@45tt,

"resturant grade"? Oooo, I like the sound of that. Is it tougher than auto grade I guess it would be called, like some of this stuff you find at Auto Zone...cheap.

@Grit dog,

When I rebuilt my truck I opted for cloth seats because I had vinyl in it for many years and got tired of it. It had carpet in it when I bought it but it could have been put in there before I bought it. So, when we were deciding on the floor we decided to pick the carpet from the '95 new year Chevy trucks and the cloth seats from the new year Chevy trucks both matching colors, in saddle tan. It was sooooo nice especially on cold mornings. It just warmed right up. And yeah, we put in the insulation like they do the custom cars and trucks. I had a friend of mine who was the upholsterer at the airline we worked at so I knew his work. He had his own business doing private jets, airplanes and yachts. He did the whole interior except for the headliner. I didn't want that, Chevy trucks are double panel roofs. I don't know about others but my trucks not hot from the roof. I don't have A/C either.

Well, I am wrapping up the ACC vinyl floor installnig my crew. Can’t say I appreciate the “fit”, but for my use with hunting, hunting dogs and snow most of the year, carpet just did not make sense. I am just going to grin and bear the wrinkles, etc. Will post pics when all done.

it's been awhile since i put my vinyl in.

it has settled down a bit with summer heating it up and driving around etc etc.

the instructions said it would but i had my doubts.
the 'fit' over the humps and bumps was rough on mine as well but seems to get better as time goes on.

good luck!

Went with cloth seats and vinyl floor myself due to the heat in summer and the cold in winter. Use the truck mainly for field work and hunting and easier to keep clean. I put a throw over the seat to try to keep the dirt tracks down.

I just installed new cut pile carpet kit from ACC via rock auto on my 86 K5 blazer custom deluxe. It originally had vinyl which was so brittle and dried out it was breaking off in chunks. I opted for carpet since a complete vinyl kit was the same price as the cutpile carpet kit. Carpet kit also included the rear wheel hump covers. I installed in a 50 degree garage and it went ok. Heated up seat bolts with a torch then pushed them through the pick holes I made in carpet. Worked pretty good. Carpet still needs some hot days to lay flat and have the packing creases work themselves out.

Overall the ACC cutpile carpet kit is ok for the price. I didn’t want to pay even more for the 2.5x thickness Essex carpet but wish the cutpile was just a little thicker. Only install issue is it doesn’t quite reach the sides of the front floor pans buy the dash. I assume they sent me the correct 4x4 high hump kit because it fits well where the door sills are on each side.

Truck is noticeably quieter with the carpet kit and I kept the factory insulation as mine was in good shape. The area above the front seats and transmission hum had extra insulation attached to the carpet. I didn’t order the extra cost backing carpet, that has a thin black backing to cut down on noise and heat transfer like kilmat or dynamat.

I would like to add the rear cargo area side panels but only ones I can find are at car and truck shop or LMC for $700+ shipping. That’s not happening anytime soon. Maybe I’ll get lucky at a junkyard and fine a used pair I can get recovered.

I also added the lower door panel covers they were only $65 for the set.
