Carpet vs vinyl

I don't like carpet I believe the carpet gets wet and keeps the floor wet and rusts out the floor.

funny, got my truck from my grandpa and it had a rubber mat. It was also rusted underneath and I assume it was because water got under the mat and then couldn’t dry out

I build custom interiors and I’ve seen a lot of guys spray bed liner in there truck cabs.

If you have done it you may want to consider removing it.

Bed liner was not designed to be use in a closed contained environment.

When it heats up it releases harmful toxic chemicals that have long term dangerous health effects when inhaled.

DO NOT spray anything in your cab that is not specifically designed for a closed contained environment.

If you want it quiet just use hush mat or dyna mat. Either one works great.

Bed liner is a no no.

All that being said we are all responsible For ourselves and passengers.

You must do what you feel comfortable with.

I am just passing along knowledge that most don’t know or simply don’t think about when trying to achieve a waterproof/quiet ride.

I am not criticizing or attempting to offend/insult anyone who has done this. I understand the reasoning behind it. Most are not aware of the danger when doing so.

I used non petroleum based undercoating on my floor.There is no odor even when closed up for weeks,hope there isnt something gassing from it I cant smell.At least it was a rubberized type the body shop recommended.I know anything rubber may have some element of petro it would seem but I dont know.

No offence and appreciate the concern. What I used was heat resistant and should not emit any gasses.

mine had the half floor vinyl.

i put killmat down then a whole floor vinyl that also came with a 'jute' padding that covered the front half.

That is funny because I based my decision on having pulled up carpet on 2 different trucks years apart, to fix rusted out floors. I assumed the carpets was holding water keeping the floors wet.

Good I’m glad you didn’t. I was hoping no one would.

If you have access to a steamer they work excellent when laying any type of flooring and can make the final job look better than factory.

Be very careful with heat guns a lot of shops use them instead of steam and they ruin and burn more material than they help.

Steam will only burn you it’s safe on all carpets and vinyls.

It will ruin leather though. It makes it draw up just like your skin blisters the leather shrinks and withers up. Don’t know why I felt that full description was necessary ha ha!!!

Carpet or vinyl, totally up to the individual. It doesn't matter what you have. If you have mud under foot all the time, then go plain vinyl, or use carpet with decent rubber mats. As for me, l like carpet.
As far as "rust in floors" goes, did they not put an under lay matting, under both carpet and vinyl. I think one is as bad as the other. If the matting is getting damp and potentially causing rust, you need to find out where the water is getting in.

Can you tell me about your seat? Pattern? Kit? Etc..

I had the seat cover custom made at an upholstery shop. My pops had buckets that I hated so I picked up an old seat on craigslist and the shop refurbished it with new springs and padding. I gave them an idea on the design and they did the custom stitching on the vinyl. All in was $500 for the seat and custom work.

I'm a carpet guy, but have rubber floor mats. I put Boom Mat in my trucks, jute over the top of that, then finally carpet. Keeps it quiet and cooler.

On my K15, I added the headliner. That really helped with the heat coming through the roof. the seat was vinyl, but I installed a cloth one from LMC. Easy install.

Most, if not all, are made by ACC. I got my ACC vinyl for a single cab from Rockauto for around $50 less than what ACC was selling them for.
Haven't put it in yet. Just arrived Friday.

I have used ACC carpeting, seems okay. Let me know how the vinyl install goes!
