What's up guys?
I have a 18 -year-old 1406 Edelbrock carburetor that's been rebuilt twice. Ot stars right up in the morning, no problem......but, I've been having issues with it not cranking right up after I've driven it for 30 minutes, let it sit for while, then try to start it up again... and after that, if I turn it off and start it up again it cranks right up .Do you recommend me buying a new one or rebuilding it again? And if I buy a new one, what carburetor do you recommend? I have a 350 small block in a '84 Chevy C10

Replace it with a Q-Jet or rebuild it while making certain your rebuild kit can handle ethanol fuel.

Sounds like it needs a minor adjustment, not a full rebuild. With a warm engine you can easily get too much fuel for a reliable hot start. Try just leaving your foot off the pedal and cranking it if the engine is warm/hot.

The newer Edelbrock AVS 2 gets a lot of high marks for simple driveability, and it’s supposed to be a lot snappier off the line than the 1406. Quadrajets are good (I am running one), but it’s harder to find a good core and a good rebuilder, and it’s usually not cheap if it’s a quality shop.

I run a 500cfm AVS2 with electric choke in my K5 with a 350. Throttle response is great. Add a tune up kit if you buy one. It's on it till I get to rebuild one of my shelved Quadrajets. Which could be probably far in the future.
