Well I am driving a 73 cheyenne c20 2wd 3/4 with a 350 and I have an issue with a noise coming from the front left wheel area. So far I can only hear it from the inside of the truck. When I start to move the left front side makes a clicking sound and maybe a bit of a chirp. It gets faster as I accelerate. I have also noticed the front left tire is wearing faster than the others. I'm guessing and hoping it is only the wheel bearings but I have been told it could be the gearbox or ball joints. Money is kind of tight right now so I just want some input from some of you guys who are more knowledgeable on these things I I am not replacing the wronh parts. Thank you for any help

I would check wheel bearings first. The gear box will not make noise in relation to speed. and ball joints would be so noticeable if that is what is making the noise that you would definitely feel it in the steering wheel. plus that sound is consistent with well worn out bearings.

Jack that wheel up and start shaking things looking for play.

I jacked it up the other day and couldn't find much play but I am pretty sure my tie rod is pretty loose. It had quite aa bit of play. I don't see how that would contribute to the type of noise I am hearing.

Does the sound match the speed of the wheel, engine or drive line? Dry and worn out u-joints can make a clicking noise.

At any rate a loose tie rod is a big safety concern. And X2 on 89s question
