I know
@Iowan is a young man just getting started in the world of trucks. I would like to provide a little lesson I learned when I was younger. When I was starting out I had all sorts of ideas that appealed to me. I wanted to put a V8 in place of the I6 in my Dart. With the help of some great guys that pointed me towards the parts I needed (no internet back then), I was really close to making the swap. I had already swapped the rear axle and converted to a 4spd manual. I had an almost complete 318 minus a carb and dizzy. Someone had told me the motor may need to be rebuilt so I took it apart and started thinking about a rebuild. Long story short, I didn't have the funds to do a rebuild at the time and after a few bad deals with other parts where my youth and inexperience was used against me I didn't even have the cash to get back to where I was before.
The moral of the story and what I should have done was be sure to spend my money wiser and be sure I was getting somthing that was worth what it cost and also useful for the project.
If I were
@Iowan I would keep my money and look for a 350 you can hear run and that has good compression. Buy it and drop it in. Use your $25 or $40 bucks towards hoses and other incidentals that go along with an engine swap.
