I'd really like to figure out what they sound like with no mufflers. And could someone help me understand what cam is best for what?

Thanks

Don't buy a cam for sound.

DOn't buy a cam for sound

Do not buy a cam for sound.

Do buy a cam that meet's your goals and stays in your budget.

Both of those cams are pretty mild. Neither are going to sound ridiculous or anything. As a general rule, increasing lift, will increase torque, increasing duration will increase horspower and carry the RPM range and HP peak further. Spreading out the LSA will increase TQ, closing it will increase HP.

Neither will require a converter or anything else, the second cam is probably as big as I'd put in a truck that was doing any work.

I'm going to buy the Whole kit, and do you think that a 1.6 ratio going to boost it too much? ,493 lift on the intake side. I'll probably end up with the first.

No, that would be fine, but if you're going to use a Vortec head the second cam is too large with stock springs and retainers, the first is marginal.

They don’t make a sound. The combustion of fuel and air make the sound

$904 for that, not bad but more than I am looking to spend, I don't think I will use vortec heads either, 350 block, and maybe some polishing on the heads, performer carb, performer intake, and 1.6 roller rockers.

Flat tappets are fine, once you break them in there's really no problem with them. I use Rotella T6 oil that has alot of ZDDP in it and don't have any troubles.

Gear ratio witht hose little cams can be stock, even 3.08, they don't move the power up far enough to matter.
