Not on CL, but the local paper, and the main reason I can't bring myself to sell my basically factory 1981 C20, because I'd hate to have it meet the same fate/demise.

I'm always leery about short bed conversions as I can only imagine the hackery that may lie underneath that thing depending on the skill level of the seller. And why would you pick a C20 or C30 to convert to shortbed rather than getting a 1/2 ton if that's what you're going to do?

Exactly. Of course the 1/2 tons are typically more expensive. I recently saw a C30 dually crew cab that was converted to a srw 1/2 ton. So now it's a long worthless lowered truck that once could haul and tow heavy loads.

I remember 15 or so years ago browsing Craigslist (yes I was an odd child) and seeing 67-72 pickups for like $500-1500 for trucks that ran and drove, drive them home deals. I’m sure most needed rockers and floors, upper windshield frame/inner roof, etc, but still.

Good luck with that these days. On occasion stuff like that pops up, but very seldom.

No doubt! I'd LOVE to get into a 67-72 but rotten junk is 1,500 - 3,000 on those trucks. Anything reasonably solid is near 10k and higher. I ran across one on Marketplace a few months back. Literally, not a panel on the truck that didn't have cancer in it and needed full drivetrain. Asking $4k for that jank.

Crusty Biscuit (1965 C20) was 4500, when it could have been 11k back in 2015. Easily could have sold for 6 or 7k. I was able to get it for 3900, and he waited the amount of days I needed to withdraw the money from the ATM. My credit union was 5 hours away so no local branch, and nobody would cash my check for that much. A 10 hour round trip drive was not in the cards, so I maxed my withdrawal amount for a few days and then went and did the transfer.

And the K series trucks are even more ridiculous in price.

Here's a couple from the past few months that were pretty good deals imo, definitely defying the current pricing trends.

No title, but there's ways to solve that (legally)

Think the ad was deleted, but there was a 71 c10, longbed, v8 3 on the tree for $1000 with title. Complete but normal rust.

Thought this was a fair deal, I know, I know, that’s a rotted out pos!

But $600 for a complete K20 driveline that is a runner ain’t bad for someone looking to do a swap or rebody.

There was this one, hard to say if the body was any good or not, but…

Mandarin Orange interior, and looks like that dash pad is in excellent shape.

How about an “alternative” hot rod
