I'd want to know what 4 speed auto. Did he convert to a weak 700r4, or did he do it right and convert to what it should have in it and do a 4L80-E. That in itself is a $2000 difference IMO.

And you can pick up a good low mile school bus with a 427 for under a grand sometimes.

I don't think it's a good deal. That's an old "has been" set up. Much better technology available now days. Dual Snails is where it's at today. Sadly belt driven power adders like Blowers and Superchargers are old school stuff.
Shows how far behind times I is.:shrug:

Tell wifey to get over it. I bought one from the local school district. We called it Git'R Done Express. 66 passenger with Tall Block 366 and Allison Auto. Got it for $700, had it almost a week and sold it for $1300 or $1400 IIRC.

I'll go the other way and say it's a good deal. Especially if you can knock the guy down to $1500, then it's half price of new. Old school or not, I've considered buying one of those setups more than once... if they made power back in the day, they will make power now too. It doesn't matter to me what the trendy setup is now, it's nice to be able to bolt power on top of a motor and still have room to work under the hood.

I don't have anything against turbochargers, but a lot of their popularity is due to TV shows and the ridiculously too common magazine "budget build" feature cars. Budget builds my ass. I do however love the fact that you can literally put a turbo on anything.

The thing is with belt driven adders is, you're giving up a portion of what you gain to power the thing. And at low rpm when you're not boosting to much, you're actually losing hp.

And a turbo restricts the exhaust. Not as much, but it's still giving up a little power.

It's close to 3hrs away. Sounds like a pretty good deal though.

I wish it were closer. I could go *** a fat girl and spank her on the ass and have the cash for it.
