Either it's a funny reflection or there's body damage on the left side. Frame looks to be saggy in the middle too.

I thought that too. I think it is a reflection and the bed isn't original and wasn't put on correctly.

That is an idea retro considering how plentiful and cheap longbeds are especially in your area. You could get one of those and, like you said, mock up your mods on it while continuing to look for a SWB then when you find what you want take the mods off the longbed, sell it for what you bought it for (if not more depending on how cheap you buy it for ) and put the mods back on the SWB
