My mom's always had the 305 I think. Not much on acceleration! I drove the blue one a little bit from time to time when I was 16 and my dad's truck was not available and that thing was a tank! 
Dad's truck on the other hand.....Well, it was a 92 Sierra Ext Cab Short bed with the 350 and a 5 speed manual tranny! Needless to say between my brother and I we roasted many a tire in that truck. It was a fun truck to drive!!! I loved that thing! My dad finally got rid of it in 2000 with 300k miles on it and it was still running strong and rust free. I think he regrets selling it to this day.

My Caprice wasn't fast but it really loved the highway a lot! That was a good car man....

Yeah, those box caprices did ride really well. They were smooth. I wouldn't mind having one myself really but I'd want to put a healthy motor in there but keep the exterior completely stock and build a sleeper.

Don;t knock it until ya try it. Those things were kick ass, very comfy and easy to get in and out of and easy to move ****. I even took one to a poker run with my 4 wheeler in the back of it. Took the back 2 seats out, slapped a piece of carbord in it, pushed the quad right into it ant the tail gate closed. Threw the ramps on the roof rack. And I still had room for the big cooler in there too.I'll never understand your van fetish
And I towed by big 20' boat with the one for over a year until a head gasket let loose. They were great vans man. All vehicles have thier weaknesses.
