Burb is no-go - fuel pump or filter??

Like I said, unplug those injectors though, so you're not spraying fuel possibly flooding it.

This got me thinking - all this cranking and I'm not smelling any fuel. (I did mention early in the thread that I didn't see any spraying) so I checked more closely with my nose and a flashlight while cranking and sure enough, zero fuel. And I checked spark again tonight with one of those in line testers that lights up - no spark. So I googled "TBI no spark no fuel" and two things came up: ECM or pickup coil in dizzy. My vote is pickup coil. I rebuilt my extra TBI dizzy and it's coil was pretty trashy looking. Plus the fact that it sort of ran for a minute does not seem to point to the ECM. I also checked the ground wires at the front of the intake manifold - nice and tight and clean. Any other grounds I need to check?

So I'm going to put my rebuilt dizzy in and see what happens. I've never timed TBI before - set it to zero, correct? Don't you unplug something too?

There's a black connector about 2" long sticking out the back of the loom circled here. Look for a single tan wire with black stripe.

I must've missed that lack of fuel thing... i think the low psi thing threw me off. Lol sorry.

The pickup coil ij the dizzy acts like a crank sensor in a modern setup. It controle fuel pulse... which also provides ICM pulse for spark to ignition coil. Sounds about right then to assume dizzy.

Well set the crank pulley to "zero" and see if the rotor under the dizzy cap points to #1 cylinder. I know GM is notorious for having more than 1 mark on the crank pulley/harmonic balancer. Plus the balancer could have spun at some time. To me, it just makes dizzy install that much easier if everything is lined up.
Then mark somewhere on the block where dizzy rotor is pointing (cuz rotor will spin a little CCW when pulled out) and see if you can also etch the base of the dizzy (for close timing).

Skysurfer, I think is on point with the "Spout" wire (the wire that needs to be unplugged for base timing)

Well I think I found my problem. Damn thing just disintegrated. Can't believe it ran as long as it did. Every time I touch it more pieces and dust fall out. Glad I have a dizzy rebuilt and ready to go in.

Got new distributor in, everything put together. Started and ran (barely) timed it to zero, and now running great. Yep I remembered to unplug the tan wire and plug it back in after timing. I did however panic when I first started timing and I couldn't even see the mark. Eventually I remembered I was using my dial back light and it was set to 45!!!. Set it to zero and everything cool.
