Leaving our neighborhood this morning going up a steep hill and lost power, engine still ran (barely) for a few seconds but then died. I was able to start it a couple three times - enough to get turned around - but then had to coast all the way back to my house. (Luck was on my side there). Now it won't run at all and no change in sound when cranking like it's trying to start. Also, the tach went really wonky - bouncing all over the place - after lost power but engine still ran.

Tach makes it sound electrical? The reason I say fuel in my title is I have a pressure gauge installed at the TB and it only reads 6 psi when key is on - too low to fire injectors? Also don't see any fuel spraying when someone else cranked for me. I do hear the pump when I turn key on. I also checked for codes - just flashes "12" over and over again so nothing there.

I'm going to start by replacing fuel filter and then fuel pump (I have a walbro 190 already for my 383 build) unless I hear differently. Any further diagnosis I should do? Why would a fuel problem make the tach go wonky?

Pull a plug and check for fire before you do anything. Tach went wonky sounds like ignition

No... TB only requires 9-12psi. But preferably 13psi in my experience

I agree with Traz also, being ignition related. Maybe wiring to the coil. Common failures there. The gray & black connector duo

The fact you only have 6psi is weird too though

Yep. Didn't know TBI could function with low pressure like a carburetor
