I tried Vinegar once. Hoses got very tight (under a lot of pressure) and when I opened the cap (when cool) it blew vinegar all over the engine compartment and even after flushing with a lot of fresh water there are still rust stains everywhere. I wouldn't recommend it at all. Let me know what works as it needed a radiator and still does and I want to do a good flush before I replace it.

Thank you for your reply. I was wondering what effect vinegar would have.
I'll be firing it up within the next week. Going to leave the old radiator in for a few days, and try the Prestone Flush+Cleaner. Then put the new radiator in.

That's what I did last month. Worked fine.

I've used the Prestone too and it worked well for rust. It did take a ton of flushing to finally get all the crud out of it though.

FYI Vinegar will not hurt any of the metals in your system and is very effective in removing the lime scale in the system.
Just flush thouroughly before refilling the system with coolant

Much obliged.
That's why I was thinkin of using vinegar, because it removes lime buildup.
