Hello everyone. I just picked up a 90 4x4 GMC Suburban a couple months ago and right now it has the 15inch wheels wrapped in 235/75/15 tires.

I am looking to upgrade to 17x8 wheels with 0 offset and 4.5 backspacing. I Don't want to do a lift, but not sure how big of a wheel I can get away with without rubbing.

I was thinking about LT265/70/17 (32x10.50R17)or something close to that.

What are your guys thoughts?

Alot of guys seem to clear 33s with no lift, minor rub. If I read it wrong you can clear 30" wheels like some donks with no lift.

If your springs are real worn, I would stay in 31", maybe 32" territory.

I appreciate the info Arkansas_v8. The springs are still pretty good in the front with some sag in the back. Yeah I don't think I am going to go passed 32" territory. Do you have any recommendations on tires? I like the look of the AT tires but I don't want a lot of highway noise and I don't want my mileage to suffer too badly.

I am not real familiar with AT tires. I always run mud tires. Sorry.

Best tire in that category as far as road manners. I always considered the BFG KM2 winner here. My buddy has KM3s and he says they are just as good. Off road they are exceptional as well.

A 4" backspace may work a little better, I think that's the backspace of the stock 15x8 wheel.

I can't advise on an A/T type of tire. I've run them, but have always been much happier with an M/T type.

Without a lift on 4x4 you can run 31s.
A factory option for blazers, k10s and suburbans is 31x10.5r15.
As far as AT tires it would be hard to find one better than BFGs AT KO2

Is that due to off-road use? I won't be doing much off-road...

Is the BFG AT KO2 a quiet tire on the highway?

I run 33x10.5r15 BFG AT K02 down the highway all the time in my suburban. I definitely don't notice the tires over all the other 75mph noises that exists in a 30yr old truck. And the traction on and offroad has been great.

Yes the tires have good road manners. I've had them on my trucks and know many other that run them.

I guess you could say that, yeah. Usually nothing crazy, but I often find myself having to pull loaded trailers in muddy areas and across soft ground. I've also had better luck with them when driving in snow. But mostly, I don't mind the little bit of extra noise and I find the added traction to be useful.

Well that is a valid point!
