Just bought my 1980 Chevy. The bench seat is in very good shape but it doesn't fold forward to allow access behind the seat. Any tips / suggestions on how to modify the seat so that it folds forward?

Thanks,

JD

There isn't a lever on the driver side that allows it to lean forward?

No, on my seat, the bench is bolted solid to the back.

Can you post up pics and maybe we can brain storm some ideas for you? My first thought that pops into my head is find another bench seat that does have the lever and swap them.

I have seen people remove the upper seat back mount bolt so it would fold forward. But the seat back rest against the back of the cab. You could fab a stop on the frame to keep it form going to fair back I guess.

I had one that way once, and never did figure out how to safely make it flip up. Mine had no bolts on the back till I got 1/4 of the way up the back under the cover.

I have a folding bench for 73 to 80. But it would be a long drive to get it.
