Bench Seat to Bucket Seats (Ideas & Discussion)

Hmm....it's been so long since I've taken a bench seat out that I can't remember what that bracket looks like. Both my squares are an hour away too so I can't go out and look.

My motor and tranny are here though. Too bad it's 108 degrees outside. Not exactly wrenching-friendly weather.

This is the factory buckets out of a reg cad how I got them with ALL the brackets etc.

Ohh...now I get it. Lol. Looks like my tracks sit a little farther out too.

Eh, I still think I can fab something up without too much cursing and throwing things. If not I'll just throw a ratchet strap over and cinch em down.

Stroked, the rear of the bench tracks have a v shaped bracket riveted to the back and the factory buckets tracks have a flat bar riveted to the back but the seat track itself is the same. The passenger seat is stationary but can be moded to be a slider with another set of brackets.

Except the buckets have a front bracket that bolts to the seat and bolts to the tracks, in between the two. That bracket only came with the rare pickup buckets. I was not aware of the pickup buckets having a front mounted slider knob (that could be adapted to the passenger side)... until I saw your pics.

Also, your seat brackets are completely different than mine (passenger side). My fronts are stamped a little different, but the rears stick out behind the seat, and bolt to the rear ledge of the cab. They are a pain to get at.

Just use tie wire and duct tape. The seat belts are bolted to the floor anyway, so the seat can get to far away from you. You'd be jacked if the belts were integral with the seats though.

Dem is purdy. I'd like to have buckets in one of my trucks. Probably the 84C20 that's gonna have the Olds 455 in it. And I intend to build a console in good taste that will house the B&M Ratchet shifter, and a nice subwoofer.

Yea Andy, these buckets came out of an 82 cab and chassis one ton (reg cab). The rear brackets use the seat belt bolts on both sides. Here are some of my mock up pics.

I wanted to get those bucket seat out of the Burb I scrapped for that kid. But I don't think his were OEM. It looked like someone built a rack for them to bolt to using the OEM 4 outside bolts. I'd have even taken the rack cuz it was a good classy job, but I ran out of time, and didn't have someone to hold the bottlm nuts the way they had installed it. So to the scrap yard they went.

Yes sir, these seats are the real deal OEM from GM for reg cab squares.

That's a MUCH better design. The earlier setup puts the back of the seat right against the cab wall and it's flimsy enough you can grab the seat and wiggle it some.

I wasnt expecting them to be that way, they were the first ones Ive seen that attatch at the seat belt and are very sturdy.
