Getting ready to drop my 468 500hp 500lbs in place of the almost dead 350! I'm wondering what tourque converter to buy its got a 280hr cam 4.10 gear and 36inch tire! Jegs said b&m 20412 or tci 240900 just wondering if you guys had some input? This is a driver, puller, offroader truck and I plan on putting some good cross country miles on her! 87v20

I would look at your cam recommendation. Probably a 2500 to 3000. Keep in mind thar it will stall more in a bb application.

High stall is definitely not conducive to good road manners or fuel mileage.

Also small converters, how ever racey, cause a lot of heat build up. Also put as big a cooler on that tranny as you can afford any stall converter creates more heat then stock it's the slipping thing.

It's a big block they don't generally fall on their faces als if you get much above that in torque you will need a converter with an anti ballooning plate.

Yeah, after looking at the cam specs, a 2400 would be more in line. .500 lift isn't a huge cam for a bb.
