i just did my fuel lines, same spot as yours... i cut the center section out of mine and used rubber hose for the 3ft of metal i cut out. I didnt want to run rubber line past the exhaust pipe so thats why i cut the metal and used the front and rear sections. looks ugly but itll do for now.

i looked all over online and the best i could find was from summit racing, but it was over $100 bucks for the whole line, prebent. f that... fuel hose at napa was $5

You can make nice looking (and mechanically sound) gas lines yourself pretty easy.

Go to a local hydraulic supply house and pick up a 10' length of stainless steel (seamless) tubing in the correct diameter. Get a tubing bender. For the weekend warrior it doesn't need to be an expensive one. Habor Freight and Northern Tools have them for about $15:

Make your bends as required on the uncut length of tubing first. Easier to clamp while bending.

Use a tubing cutter to crop out your sections as they are bent.

Then, and this is important, apply a little swage/flare to the ends of each S.S. tubing section. Use a flaring tool and swage it out just enough so that when assembled and clamped the tubing end will grab the ID of your rubber sections. But not so much that the rubber can't slip over the ends. This step will ensure that the steel and rubber will not seperate due to vibration and expansion.

Yep, I've made my own transmission cooling lines this way. With that same tool you have pictured, and it was from HF. Cheap tool, but for what little you'll actually use it, it's worth the money.

Agreed. Takes a little practice, but once you learn how to read the radius scale it makes beautiful bends. And until I searched for those images last night, I had no idea they were so inexpensive.

Since discovering the type pictured, I avoid the other methods.

You know what I mean, those slip on springs and the kind that you use your hand to bend the tube around a mandrel.

i found a tank vent at a junkyard and installed that. I ordered a new metal line from LMC and changed the old one out. so all my fuel leaks and odors are gone :)

You're right. I have all 3 types, the springs is the worst junk, then the mandrel type, seemed I always bent the handle since it was so weak, but that HF cheapie is great once you get the hang of it. :grd:
