Welcome back to the audio addiction! One thing I've learned over the decades working in a high end stereo shop is that power ratings leave a lot on the table. Amps are usually over rated and speakers under rated. It's like car makers and horsepower lol. IF you have a clean signal (that means quality head units and amps) you can drive speakers way past their ratings. It's distortion that kills them not raw power.

Have you purchased the Epicenter yet? I have a brand new one I bought two years ago. Used it briefly in my setup before I realized it was not the solution for my system. It's a great unit. I LOVE AudioTek! Awesome American quality.

Max used it on the bug some when he did the big stereo install.
It does as the internet has stated it will, helps kill the road noise and sheet metal harmonics. He didn't use a ton of it though as when the car was mine, I went to the junkyard and pulled a bunch of sound deadening out of luxury cars. Then I glued it in behind the interior panels with contact cement.

I will have more information on it when it comes to me having the time to install all this stuff into the truck. Then I will have a full report that will be posted on this thread.
Does it work pretty good. i got some cheaper sound deadening insulation off fleabay or amazon or both i dont remember.

I do have a Epicenter for a different vehicle I have been gathering parts for.

But if you are looking to sell, I may be interested....

Clean power is a must for all my junk whether budget build or not.
For the truck I will be using a Kicker ZX400.1 on the subs and I have not decided on what amp for the doors. I have a vintage Eclipse EA3422 4 channel amp that may get the job. I puts out 50W RMS x 4 ch at 4 ohms. That should be enough to work well with the sub amp.

I have been chasing another Kicker ZX200.4 amp on Ebay that has a broken channel, but the seller thinks it is worth way to much in its current state. I only want it as it matches the sub amp, other than that, I don't know why I want it.

So for months I have been lowballing the guy and he just keeps on relisting it for $90.

The max power rating is mostly for warranty purposes and has VERY little to do with what the speaker can handle. I have a pair of Teledine acoustic research. AR_9's (from 1978) that have a max power rating of 400 watts. I ran them for 10 years with a Crown macrotech 1200 watt amp and never had a problem, still have them and use them every day. Sold the amp for big bucks tears ago.

You kids and your toys lol!!
In the late 70s, I got the old 75 Impala 4 door.
Thought I was cool with a new Kraco and a pair of 6x9's! Lol

It came with an a.m. only radio. I installed a f.m. converter in it. That was the first time I heard Sultans Of Swing.

I have to say when Easton wanted to do the stereo in his square, I was a bit nervous. In my day we added read deck speakers to an aftermarket cassette player in my ‘77 Z28 and that was it. He was talking amps and gigantic sub’s… he bought everything off scamazon about $900 and off we went. Was not that hard and that was about 9 months ago and he still blows the entire neighborhood out when he pulls in….

Wow, you just took me back a few years. I had a 67 Chevelle with the bad ass "Kraco" and 6x9's lined up across the rear deck. Lol

April 1970, brand new LS6 Chevelle, new Sparkomatic AM/FM, and a Cadillac 8-track plyer under the dash..............I was STYLIN!!!!!!!!!!!.......with the big block, the sound didn't matter , much!
Had quite a few Sparkomatics back in the day. We bought them from Rinks. The really cool guys had Mindblower speakers.

Jeebus.
New job 5 years ago has put more responsibility on my plate.
The new responsibility means I have no more time.

I have not even put one thing into the truck so far.
I still have all the stuff in the garage ready to go.

I need to take some time off and do something for myself...
