Are these exhaust manifolds off a big or small block?

The auction tag on them says big block but thats it... Im guessing since my grandpa bought them for 35 bucks(a lot to spend for that man) they arent ford or mopar... they seem different than most manifolds though. Ports seem to close to eachother for big block?

If you don't have an answer by the time I get back from the media blaster picking up my headers I will measure the distance between ports and let yo know what I get.

Now that I think about it, SBC has two exhaust ports side by side, no? The center cylinders?

That's correct. I would have to think those headers are BBC or possibly Ford.

Those are definitely big block headers. But Ford or Chevy I can't tell.

Big block Chevy and Ford have angled header bolt holes. Small blocks for both are straight across with Chevy's center 2 close together.

Chevrolet. I can measure primary spacing for you if you'd like
if you are confident by looking at them, i am. If this is the case... I might have a big block in my shed.. there is a carburetor cover that says 396 big block... what is the main give away of a big block? they ever come with 2 barrels? I see pics online but they just look like a slightly larger small block, with accessory drive items being similar in location and shape. Maybe where can I find a number on a big block that would indicate its origin or status as one?

Drivers side of the motor, at the back is a stamping, towards the firewall. That'll be the number you need to verify what it is. It'll be on the block.

Usually just the difference in size of the intake and heads and sometimes valve covers is the giveaway

Big blocks have evenly spaced exhaust ports, small blocks have center ones paired. Unless you call an LS a smallblock, then those are equally spaced as well.
Those look like big block headers to me.
And I might catch flack for this, but leave the 396 alone. It'll drink twice the gas of a decent smallblock and make very little more power.

Unfortunately I didnt have a 396 anymore. just a small block in a hard to see location. But i have the carb cleaner lol. But Idk, its not about the power its about the smiles! But torque would be a desireable trait for me personally more than HP, and a 427 big block built right apparently can rip.
