Honestly, how much to buy a 350/383 long block and build it up? Would that be any cheaper than some flavor of lsx and a 4l60? Or at the end of the day am i gonna be close either way?

I will make up price lists today

For a 350 etc build i have what's on my 305, pretty sure my ps pump is dieing a slow death, but the rest seems good

Hey im not saying go carb, just trying to be controversial lol.

I would think the used LS would be slightly cheaper or the same as an affordable crate 383. Either way $2500-3000 I would think.

right, but i think that could include a trans too, where a crate 383 would be just motor

Good convo is needed as more LS questions arise.:) I'm just glad this isn't one of the forums that shun LS swaps.

Man, I had a nice post all done at work and never posted it. Anyway...

I still say document the cost of each option you are considering. LSx EFI, carb'd, and sbc. Once you get real costs of the swap with the parts you would use, then you can decide which option you can afford and which one makes the most sense for your intentions. I would love for you to do a LSx EFI swap for $1200!

Ya good point. There is nothing to prevent a guy from using a TH400 behind an LS motor. That would be easy peasy

sure there is, i want overdrive:angels2:

started making my list, starting with LSX efi first. going to take a while for sure!

since i need a new tank anyway, pretty sure no matter what route i go I am just going to drop a 31 (maybe 40???) gallon burb tank in. will end up at about the same cost as just my 1 tank that needs replacement currently (and probably other side too, so double that cost)

oh, and why are all the conversion LSX headers for our trucks 2WD???? highly considering 2010 camaro stock manifolds

Edit, schoenfeld 1302ls do?

From my research the stock 2010 manifolds clear the frame well not so sure about the headers though

There is a video of someone installing the 1302ls1's and they are close, but it looks like they fit. As long as i need to buy different manifolds anyway, might as well spend the extra 100 and get headers

Who is that?

Im more concerned with is my stock radiator up the the task of cooling 5.3? I think the new radiators are 2pass, aren't they?

@scottybaccus is the member that can supply you with the items you need. I also was wondering if the stock rad can handle cooling the engine as well. Hopefully he will chime in soon....
