I started my bodyworking adventures on my 76 with a $70 harbor freight flux core machine. Never had any issues with it and ran over 10lbs of wire through it still on the original contact tip.
Then I bought a Tig welder, around $250, very pleased with it and has allowed me to do most of work on my 79.
Then I decided to get a real Mig machine for plug welds and such, decided to go with the Klutch 140 from northern, Stay away from that pile of garbage. wouldn't feed wire right and per the door chart, almost maxed out for 18 gauge.
Decided to get an Eastwood mig 135, very pleased with it.
Have run a lot of wire through a Hobart handler 140 and like it alot (although 2x the price of the Eastwood) on my friends 75 K5
Used some Lincoln 140c's in high school, not much of a fan.
