I would check to see what they're going for on Rock auto. Iirc, they also list dimensions for the length of the two different size tanks.

If it's a NOS part, I'd ask more than RockAuto's list price. I just bought a cheapie 31 gallon tank from them, and it's from Taiwan. I prefer the Republic of China to just regular China, but it's still not the same. It's a well made tank, but it doesn't have the same rigidity from what I can tell as the OEM part. As a consumer, it means more knowing that it was made in the same country as the truck, and I would justify paying a little more.

Think the 20's were for long bed? I'd asked a long time ago if it would fit on a shortbed and the answer was no.

Unless you want it all original, I'd do the 31 gallon tank under the bed if I was going to spend time on it.

That is correct, on a shortbed the 16gal comes within 2-3" from the spring hanger.

You're 95% right. I only say that, because I have seen dual 16 gallon tanks on a long bed and bet your ass I saved them off the 81 GMC before I scrapped it. You are correct, Shortbeds will ONLY fit the 16 gallon tanks, but could be either on a longbed. I've only seen with my own eyes, 16 gallons on a longbed 1 time. But yes, that's a 20 gallon tank pictured for certain.

Also what matters on the value, is if it's an 87 or later TBI tank. The TBI tanks have the internal fuel pump so there is a small built in sump and baffles for the E pump. If it's that 87 and later tank, higher value and the TBI, Vortec and LS swapping guys need the Electric pump tank.

Your's would make the 2nd longbed I know of with 16 gallon tanks. I really considered maybe using these 16 gallon tanks on the K10/20. In hopes to make room for a 2 gallon air tank and compressor. Not so sure it gives enough room and I really want to do a single rear tank or maybe a single rear 31 gallon and 1 saddle 16 gallon so I have 1 complete side for air tank and compressor and have both fill pipes on the same side of the truck.

I had a 73 long bed that had a 16gal tank, think the 20 was an option.
