So I looked through schematics first as to not bother anyone...but I can't figure out what this connector does. It comes out of the main wiring harness at the same spot the fuel sender wire does for the driver side tank. You can see above it in the pic the fuel sender wire. I have no fuel guage reading but the sending unit itself is bad so I'm replacing that. Before I lift and replace the fuel tank and cover this for good I would really like to know if it has a purpose. Can anyone please advise?

It looks like you could push the fuel sender wire onto it if needed....it is a replica of the Male fitting at the top of the fuel sending unit....does it just go together if you only have one tank?

So the female end that's seen is the normal sender wire that comes out of the harness, correct? Does the mystery wire run to the front of the truck, or the other side of the truck?

Its likely the fuel gauge wire disconnect on the dual tank harness.
The female half is the single tank female sender plug.
Option NL2 is a separate diagram after the main harness pages.
