Found two different jet sizes in the carb(73 and 71). Also realized that transferring to electric choke might not be that simple. But already purchased a rebuild gasket for this particular carb.

The primary rods are 40, so to match then installed 70 jets. This should be equivalent to factory 71 for 350 motor. Also changed the secondaries from ck(527) to dr(570), which also should be equivalent to a stock 71 setup for 350 motors. Seen somewhere that everything should be increased some when for modern fuel, but will try more to stock setup first. Had to drill the housing to install different bushing for electric choke conversion.

Converting 74 and earlier quadrajet to newer factory choke setup is a pain. Next time if I need to, will just get the divorced choke conversion that mounts to the intake. Had to swap the primary shaft with some modifications and make a bracket for choke pull off. And still had to order a choke plate as in the pile of parts that I got there were only 75+ choke plates. Did not know that they were different until now. And I have all the parts needed to build a 75+, but for some reason remaining stubborn on using this original 71.

After getting black smoke to go away with carb rejet, now found what is probably most of the left over idle blue smoke. Accidentally disconnected transmission vacuum modulator hose and fluid poured out.
Also moving along on the floors. Hopefully will have carpet and seat in by next week. Need to clean and seal under the car and paint.

Added some shims to get the wheel to at least have just a bit of negative camber instead of 2-3* positive camber that it was left at. With stock a arms, will never achieve good caster and camber but at least get it drivable. Can see in the picture where it used to ride vs now adjusted some.

Was it towed-in excessively as well?

It might be as well. Have not checked yet. Have a ws6 f body steering box to put in before taking in for alignment. Camber was very noticeable, so attacked it first. There were no shims at all on upper a arms, as if nobody ever tried setting camber/caster on it.

I might need to bump the primary jets one size up. Getting a bit of a lean stumble after removing transmission fluid feed from the motor.

Probably, if they took all the shims out and increased the camber, it would have caused the toe to move in.

Should have traced the short in the radio fuse before running wire to electric choke. Found emission related wiring that was just left to melt and short together by randomly leaving it disconnected. But there is a ignition switched power wire that runs right by where electric choke is.
Started all by deciding to replace the dash pad. That turned in to fixing and painting glove box, getting new dash speakers, fan speed selector switch, connectors, hvac ducting, new rear view mirror and other misc. Waiting on some parts to come in, but did get the blower fan out(pain as inner fender has to drop) and it works after cleaning.

I enjoy your build threads. Do you have a lot of time to work on them? Because you get a lot of **** done on a lot of cars. Or do you just get a lot if **** done in a short period of time? Lol
