Aluminum Wheels for 8 Lug Hubs

I'd like to put aluminum wheels on my 87 R30 single wheel. Been thinking I'd use something like what's come on Silverados for some time now, but I'd also like to know what is available. Any input? What do you like and why?

And to be clear, my first choice is 16". Would probably consider other sizes, but most of the "big" wheel options that seem to be popular these days do not appeal to me.

Plus the price of anything bigger than 16 goes through the roof. With exception the 16.5 which imo is the ultimate size... but only a few tires manufactures have 16.5s.

With our 8 lugs, we have a considerable well of wheels to choose from, all dodge wheels fit, also ford up to 2010 fit. The wheels you are talking about are actually pretty nice looking on squares and fit just fine, I believe the backspacing is only off .5 from the stock steels your running now.

I've always thought the later factory wheels didn't look quite right on squares but your flatbed might be able to pull it off. I went with Eagle 186 wheels because they were reasonably priced and just a basic design. After having wheels on other vehicles with a busy pattern I can appreciate how easy it is to keep these clean.

Not in complete agreement... 16.5s rock! But... not too many tires available in that size. Maybe 17's on something lowered, but that's my limit.

Did you notice the new guy with an amazing red lowered stepside? It's a plus 100 but has something like 20" wheels reducing it to a +7 imo.

I have seen pictures of squares with the full sized Hummer wheels, but I think you need a 4x4 to get the clearance for them.

If the truck is going to be staying about the same as far as it's "work truck" looks go, I'd skip the modern aluminum wheels. I'd go with a set of custom steel rims that take the stock hubcaps, in a 16x8 size. Cost would be about the same as a new set of mags. Wheel Vintiques, Stockton Wheel, and a couple others will make them. A 265/70 tire would fit and look good, and it's an extremely common size.

I greatly appreciate all the input. This is and will be a working truck, and I will consider every offered perspective.

Even though I like the all wooden flat, I may replace it with a steel frame flat bed. It would still have a treated wood floor. I sometimes haul livestock, and I think wood makes it easier to provide sure footing.

With that said, I like the look of stock wheels with a flat bed, but I’ll probably try something in alloy.

I ran the hummer wheels for a couple of years. You can pick them up for cheap.

Been thinking about some old school aluminum - centerline style with small holes or the directional triangles. But then I found these on Offerup - What do you guys think of this style on a 3/4 ton square?

Definitely skip the late model wheels. The offset is all wrong. I have a set of PY0s on my 88' R20 crewcab, and they just look bad. Too sucked in. I've been looking into getting a set of aluminum wheels with a better offset, similar to what Skysurfer posted above.
