Alcan springs

Just installed some Alcan springs on my 76 K-10

When we bought this truck a few years ago for my then 16 yr old daily driver it had stock springs

We later bought a parts truck and used the lift springs from it
They were 4” fronts and blocks on the rear
Unknown brand
Rode harder than any dumptruck or log wagon I’ve ever been in


Finally ordered some springs from Alcan
4” lift front , no lift rear springs and a shackle flip kit from ORD
And four rancho RS9000 shocks
Wow!

These ride sooo nice

Slightly firmer than my 06 expedition
And soft enough that we had to reinstall the front sway bar

If you want a nice ride , get some Alcans

Good stuff! Did Alcan tell you the approximate spring rate for your packs?

Let me find the receipt
Think the springs were about $1300 for four and $250 for shipping

4 Ranchos were $500

Think the shackle flip was $200?

I can get some better pics tomorrow

We did this at a friends warehouse on the weekend
They had a forklift but we didn’t do any before and after flex tests or measurements
Didn’t think about it


But now the tires rub the fenders a little when turning into my driveway
And that never happened before


Lessons learned ;

Buy all new spring eye and shackle bolts

And lots of high quality sawzall blades

Each blade is only good for cutting one bolt

Some of the bolts were rusted so hard to the bushings that no amount t of pounding with a BFH would move it

And a learning curve
First front spring took three hours
Second front spring took 45 minutes

Easiest way is to install the new spring main eye then rear shackle
Then axle U bolts
The shackle flip was a real PITA

We used a plasma and a grinder to cut the head off the rivets
And then pounded em out with a hammer and punch

I just installed a set of the Alcan spring this weekend, I ordered mine through Offroad design, You tell ORD how much lift you have, what engine, winch, bumper, and if you want the center pin moved and they work with Alcan to build springs that will work for you. Mine are a 10 leaf pack that were setup for my Cummins swapped crew cab to give me 7" of lift. They ride better than the springs I had before, and have way more travel. Definitely recommended
