Rear axle? There's a square-drive fill plug on the passenger side of the diff. Take it out, fill it up until it starts to run out the fill hole. Total capacity is 2-3 quarts.

If you have the cover off and the fill plug won't come out, fill a couple 1-quart ziplock bags with lube. Then carefully stuff them in the diff and install the diff cover. Drive.

Never heard or thought about that.

Nice. Add a pound of hamburger and women's pantyhose for the ultimate in quiet differentials.

I'd reckon those ingredients would also make a good substitute for posi additive.

A friend bought a pickup, put it upon a hoist where He was working, looking it over, walked to the back, had a weird odor, pulled the differential cover, when He got done :puke: ing from the smell a rotten bananas mixed wit gear lube, He cleaned it out, put the cover back on, refilled the differential wit fresh 80-90, He had a howl in the rear gears. Imagine dat. :idiot::happy175:

Yep, I've heard bananas will quiet down a humming rear end. That and saw dust.

I know what would work hella better than gear oil. Those of you that carry/shoot how about using some Frog Lube ? :)

Never heard bananas. That’s bananas!
And great tip on the baggies of oil. Seriously. Ida never thought of that. But no reason it wouldn’t work and well, at that!
